Joelle Blouin

Joelle Blouin is a French-Canadian Artist who was born in Quebec City Canada in 1985. A self-taught painter, Joelle excelled in her craft and quickly went on to win several awards, acknowledgments and admiration for her artwork.

The artist has never had professional training, but feels that this has helped her passion and inspiration lead to develop a unique technique. Joelle blends and mixes her colors directly on her canvas using only a palette-knife. Her incomparable style is known as; URBAN ABSTRACT CUBISM.

Joelle’s first private viewing took place in early 2008 at a trendy pub in Old Quebec, Canada. Her career as a professional painter was launched! Since January 2009, Joelle has dedicated herself full-time to painting and her work has now received international recognition. Her paintings are showcased in galleries across Canada and the USA.

In order to maintain “creative stability” Joelle uses her own photographs for inspiration, turning them into “cubist” visions with bright vibrant touches of gold leaf. The artist prefers working on larger canvases though, as they accentuate the “cubic texture” of her paintings. Joelle also enjoys painting abstract pieces as they allow her to be spontaneous and carefree, however it is her urban cityscapes that have brought her the recognition she enjoys today.

She currently lives and works in Quebec city, Canada. But, to Joelle’s youthful spirit, she is always on the move traveling from city to city throughout North America creating works for her collectors to enjoy!
